Graduate teaching opportunities were formalized for incoming MDES and MA students. Prior to arrival in the Fall, they are encouraged to formulate a proposal for teaching during RISD’s Wintersession, a 5 week session between Fall and Spring semesters. Graduate Program Director and Department Head review the proposals. Once accepted, the Graduate Program Director supervises in weekly meetings the development of the proposal to syllabus and full course outline.
Summer Program teaching:
Top recent graduates of the MDes and MA degree program have the opportunity for a Teaching Assistantship (a RISD teaching contract) in the MDes Summer Program. With insight to what skills are needed to succeed, they tutor the incoming class in design and making.
